おぼえた日記 《バレンタインデー》
今日はバレンタインデー。
バレンタインといえば義理チョコをイメージされる方も多いのでは。
最近は義理チョコは減って、友チョコや自分へのごほうびに高級チョコを買うのが多いそうですね。
私は今年は義理チョコは贈らないことにしました。ひとつのコミュニケーションだと思っていましたが、お返しが大変だと逆に気を遣わせてしまっているようだったので。
ということで今日は「obligation」についてお勉強してみました。
obligation（名）～に対する義務
～への感謝、恩義
《用例》
☆parents' obligation to their children.
子供に対する親の義務
☆You are under no obligation and may return any delivery within 10 days.
あなたは何の義務も負いませんし、10日以内であれば商品を返却できます。
☆a sense of obligation
義務感
☆We are invited but we are under no obligation to go.
私たちは招待されているが、行かなくてはならない義務はない。
☆I have an obligation to her.
彼女には恩があります。
☆feel an obligation to her for the kindness.
彼女に親切にしてもらった恩義を感じる。

Which of you is in charge?
ここでの”charge”は責任、世話、保護、管理という意味で使われているようです。
ジーニアス英和辞典によると・・・
”be in charge of him ”は「彼を世話している」という意味で”of”は目的格関係を表す。となっています。
be in the charge of him は彼が世話をしている。彼に世話されている（＝be in his charge)という意味でof は主格関係を表す。
んんん～同じofでも「目的格？」 「主格？」ややこしい～。。。
《用例》
Put him in charge of the computer systems.
彼にコンピュータシステムの管理をまかせる。
leave the child in his charge. （=put the child under his charge.）
子供を彼に預ける。
She is in charge of the sales department.（=The sales department is in her charge.）

Such a beautiful Fireworks!!
A display of giant fireworks exploding in the night sky, one of the higlights of the Japanese summer.
Each starburst lasts just 5 or 10 seconds. But these fleeting moment of beautiful pryotechinics never fail to captivate the watching crowds.
日本の夏の夜の主役、夜空を彩る大きな花火です。花火が光を放つのは、わずか5秒から10秒ほど。その一瞬の美しさに人々は酔いしれます。
The climax of any firework display is a rapid-fire series of bursts called 'star-maines.' Hundreds of fireworks are launched to form a blazing curtain in the sky. The colours and sizes are carefully calculated to create the perfect combinations. This type of pyrotechnic collage effect is an art form in its own right.
クライマックスは「スターマイン」と呼ばれる連続仕掛け花火です。打ち上げられた数百発の花火は光のカーテンをつくります。
色やサイズの組み合わせが巧みに計算された花火の総合芸術です。
