☆Kado is a traditonal Japanese art that has flourished since the sicteenth century.

　華道は16世紀ごろから盛んになった日本の伝統的な芸術の一つです。

☆Also it is called ikebana.

　生け花とも呼ばれます。

☆The general style is to fill a wide-mouthed, simple vase with water, and stick and set up the flowers on kenzan,a metalic plate with a lot of thick needles pointing upwards.

　広口で平たい花器に水を張り、金属板にたくさんの太い針が上向きに並んだ剣山で
花を固定し、盛り上げるように花を生けるという様式が一般的です。

☆Natural beauty and one's feelings are expressed by using scissors to adjust the　length of the stems and to modiｆy the shape of the leaves and by using the hands to add curvature.

　はさみで長短をつけたり、葉の形を修正したり、手で反りを加えたりして

自然の美や心情を表現するのです。

The plum tree

先週末、近くの梅林に梅を見に行きました。

まだ寒くて花は少ししか咲いていなくて蕾が多かったです。

白い梅はわりと咲いていたけど、ピンクの梅はまだ蕾が多く、白い梅とピンクの梅は咲くタイミングが違うんだなぁと思いました。

but its fruit is used for food, in medicine, and ,since ancient times, as an important preserved food.

梅は、その花を観賞するだけでなく、実を食品や薬品にし、

古くから重要な保存食となっていました。

今日はバレンタインデー。


バレンタインといえば義理チョコをイメージされる方も多いのでは。

最近は義理チョコは減って、友チョコや自分へのごほうびに高級チョコを買うのが多いそうですね。

私は今年は義理チョコは贈らないことにしました。ひとつのコミュニケーションだと思っていましたが、お返しが大変だと逆に気を遣わせてしまっているようだったので。

ここでの”charge”は責任、世話、保護、管理という意味で使われているようです。

ジーニアス英和辞典によると・・・



”be in charge of him ”は「彼を世話している」という意味で”of”は目的格関係を表す。となっています。
be in the charge of him は彼が世話をしている。彼に世話されている（＝be in his charge)という意味でof は主格関係を表す。
んんん～同じofでも「目的格？」　「主格？」ややこしい～。。。

彼にコンピュータシステムの管理をまかせる。

子供を彼に預ける。
